چکیده

Abstract In this eye‐tracking experiment, we compared instructional videos with static signals, dynamic signals and no signaling in a within‐subject design. We tracked eye movements from 28 undergraduate chemistry students while they were watching about reaction mechanisms the different conditions. Further, assessed students' cognitive load, as well retention performance. employed Latin square design to control for sequencing content effects of videos. Our data showed that helped better focus their attention relevant features representations virtually across entire time video presentation. Furthermore, increased performance decreased extraneous load. Overall, our findings show crucial role pairing principle temporal contiguity help navigate through complex symbolic improve learning success.

Instructional Aids to Support a Conceptual Understanding of Multiple Representations

The main goals of this study were to test whether multiple representations, such as diagrams and equations, per se help to acquire conceptual understanding in probability, and to investigate whether learners need instructional support to utilize the potentials of multiple representations. The authors conducted an experimental study with 8 conditions in which high school students (N 170) studied...

Using low-cost Android tablets and instructional videos to teach clinical skills to medical students in Kenya: a prospective study

OBJECTIVES To assess the feasibility and impact of using a low-cost Android tablet to deliver clinical skills training to third-year medical students in Kenya. DESIGN A prospective study using a low cost tablet called 'connecTAB', which was designed and manufactured specifically for areas with low bandwidth. Instructional video tutorials demonstrating techniques of cardiovascular and abdomina...

How to navigate through obstacles?

Given a set of obstacles and two points in the plane, is there a path between the two points that does not cross more than k different obstacles? Equivalently, can we remove k obstacles so that there is an obstacle-free path between the two designated points? This is a fundamental problem that has undergone a tremendous amount of work by researchers in various areas, including computational geo...

Learning to Navigate in Complex Environments

Learning to navigate in complex environments with dynamic elements is an important milestone in developing AI agents. In this work we formulate the navigation question as a reinforcement learning problem and show that data efficiency and task performance can be dramatically improved by relying on additional auxiliary tasks. In particular we consider jointly learning the goal-driven reinforcemen...

Reactive Trajectory Deformation to Navigate Dynamic Environments

Path deformation is a technique that was introduced to generate robot motion wherein a path, that has been computed beforehand, is continuously deformed on-line in response to unforeseen obstacles. In an effort to improve path deformation, this paper presents a trajectory deformation scheme. The main idea is that by incorporating the time dimension and hence information on the obstacles’ future...
